EMDREye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing is an integrative psychotherapy approach that has been extensively researched and proven effective for the treatment of trauma. Since 2004 it has been recommended as such in the Practice Guidelines of the American Psychiatric Association and the World Health Organisation.

When a distressing or traumatic experience occurs it may overwhelm normal coping mechanisms. The memory and associated stimuli are inadequately processed and stored in isolated memory networks in the brain. The goal of EMDR is to process completely these experiences and assist the brain and body in assimilating new experiences needed for optimal health.

Other approaches include:

 Brain Spotting
– Hypnotherapy and Transpersonal Psychology
– EFT and Matrix Reimprinting
– Ego State Therapy
– Somatic Experiencing
